Ashley Madison is a spicy online dating service marketed to people who are already in a relationship. The website was launched 10 years ago in 2001.
Ashley Madison claims to have 8 million members. Alexa.org shows the site receiving some 800,000 unique visitors per month. The name of the site was created from two of the most popular female baby names "Ashley" and "Madison". Since its launch
Ashley Madison has drawn heavy criticism over the subject matter of the site. Consultant Trish McDermott for example - who helped found Match.com - accused
Ashley Madison of being a "business built on the back of broken hearts, ruining marriages and damaging families". AM owner Biderman responded by stating that his dating portal is just a platform not convincing anyone to commit infidelity.
